For this tutorial, you'll need to download the satin_gold.jpg.
To do so, right click on the image to the right and choose "save image as" from
the drop down list.
Open a new window, 200 x 100, 16 million colors, white background.
Add text using white as the foreground color. (Click on the A
on the Tool Palette.
Put a check in the anti-alias and floating check boxes in
the text dialog box.
If it's not open, open satin_gold.jpg that you just downloaded.
Using the Clone Brush, right click on an area of high contrast
on satin_gold.jpg. (I used the ripple to the left side of the image).
Clone Brush Settings:
Have the brush tip large enough to cover most of one letter in your text.
Using the Clone Brush, color in one letter at a time, making sure to
get a bit of the highlighted area on each letter.
Selection | Modify | Feather
Number of Pixels: 3
Set the Color Palette background color to R-200, G-190, B-142
Add a Cutout effect.
Cutout Settings:
Add a Hot Wax Coating. Make sure the foreground color is still set to
white.
If your image is a little dark, (probably will be), use
Color | Adjust | Brightness/Contrast to lighten it some.
Settings:
Add Drop Shadow for a finishing touch.
Change to greyscale for a shiney chrome. Or, if you need a
transparent background, you can get the same shiney chrome effect
by setting the sliders in the Colorize dialog box to 0 (zero).
