Add a symmetrical border to your image, (Image | Add Borders) using a background color that closely matches the background of your webpage.
With the Magic Wand select the border area. Immediately invert the selection by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + I on your keyboard.
Select (Selections | Modify | Contract | 9) on the menu bar.
Invert the selection again.
Select the Paintbrush Tool.
Make a single pass around the perimeter of your image.
Blur the selected area , (Image | Blur | Blur More).
Now you can deselect the selection. Press CTRL + D on the keyboard.
Don't get too excited about that de-selection. You can select the border
again with the magic wand, and invert the selection again as well. (Isn't this
fun)?
Now, Selections | Modify |Contract | 9 again and we're ready for our
drop shadow. Use the eyedropper to select one of the colors in your image to use
as the background color on the Color Palette.
Image | Effects | Drop Shadow
Deselect the selection.
Reselect the border one last time with the Magic Wand.
Selections | Modify | Contract | 2
Add one more drop shadow. All settings remain the same with the exception
of the horizontal and vertical which now become +4.
