How To Compress a JPG in Paint Shop Pro

Select FILE on the menu bar
Select SAVE AS...
In the SAVE AS TYPE box, select JPG.
Click on the OPTIONS button
Select the JPG tag.
Set DPI at 300
Adjust your COMPRESSION level. This will take some experimenting as some graphics may save fine with a compression level of 50, while others will require less compression. The rule in PSP is the higher the compression level, the smaller the file, and the lower the compression level the higher the file. These settings vary from program to program so if you're not using PSP read your documentation.

Test the compression level you selected by viewing the image in Netscape or other browser, or close PSP and re-open it. Paint Shop Pro retains the image in memory and will not show the changes until the program has been closed and re-opened. Personally, I find it easier to view the changes in Netscape. Continue testing until you find a compression level that gives you the best results for your graphic.
