
Open a new window with a background color or pattern that will contrast with your text color. ( Not white or black).
Select A on the tool bar to bring up the text box.
Select a large font.
Type your text and select ok.
Do NOT deselect the text.
Select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/CUTOUT....
De-select FILL INTERIOR WITH COLOR
Set SHADOW to white.
Set OPACITY to 255
Set BLUR to 0 (zero)
Set HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL to 2
Select ok.
Do NOT deselect the text.
Select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/CUTOUT....
De-select FILL INTERIOR WITH COLOR
Set SHADOW to black.
Set OPACITY to 255
Set BLUR to 0 (zero)
Set HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL to -1 (minus 1)
Select ok.
Do NOT deselect the text.
Select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/ADD DROP SHADOW....
Set the drop shadow to your own preferences and select ok.
Save
Note: If you want to work with smaller fonts, you will have to adjust the vertical and horizontal settings in Cutout.
How did I get the effect in the page banner?
I took my 'new' 3d text graphic, selected the background, inverted the selection, embossed the text, eroded it, embossed it again and gamma corrected it. Then I made it a button.
