emboss 01 Open a 3d text graphic or create one following the steps in 3d Text
Make sure the colors are set to 16,000,000

emboss 02 Select IMAGE/SPECIAL FILTERS/EMBOSS

emboss 03 Select COLORS/ADJUST/BRIGHTNESS-CONTRAST
Set the brightness to 38, the contrast to 0, click OK

emboss 04 4. With the foreground color set to white, select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/HOT WAX COATING

With the MAGIC WAND, click on the 'background' of the open window.
Select white as the foreground color
Using the flood fill, fill in the background with white.
Using the MAGIC WAND again, select the spaces inside of letters that didn't turn white.
Using the flood fill, turn these remaining spaces white.

emboss 06 Select COLORS/COLORIZE, set the hue to the desired color. ( I had the hue set to136 and the saturation to 255)
Click ok

emboss 07 Using the MAGIC WAND, click on the background of your picture
Select SELECTIONS/INVERT
Select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/ADD DROP SHADOW. (I had my horizontal and vertical offset both set to 6)

emboss 08 Using the MAGIC WAND, select the areas inside of letters that didn't get 'shadowed'.
Select IMAGE/SPECIAL EFFECTS/CUTOUTS to add cutouts to areas enclosed inside the letters. I had the offsets both set to 5.

emboss09 Using the DROPPER, pick up the background color
Click on the background of your picture with the SELECT tool
With the FLOOD FILL, fill in the background
Change the foreground color to the background color on the PALETTE
SAVE AS, being sure to set your background options.

TIP: To eliminate white lines around your shadowed graphic, substitute your web page background color instead of turning the background white.
