1. Open an image or create a new image. NOTE: The image must be 8 bit
(256 Greys) or 24 bit (16.7 Million Colors).
2. After you've done that, go to the selection tool(the square of dotted
lines next to the lasso tool) and select Feather "0", and Selection Type
"circle."
NOTE: Selecting Feather "0" gives a sharper image as an end product but involves an extra step in that you have to blur or soften the edges. Selecting Feather "1" removes the need to blur or soften the edges but the finished edge is not as sharp. ( See step 5).
3. Postion the mouse cursor where you want the sphere to be. NOTE: Where your mouse cursor is is where the top right, top left, bottom right, or bottom left of the sphere is going to be. Drag the mouse in whatever direction according to where you want the sphere. DO NOT DESELECT THE SELECTION YET!
4. OK, you with me so far? Good. Set your background and foreground
colors to whatever you want in your sphere. NOTE:"Using a lighter color as your foreground
color(which will be the light source) makes the sphere look more
realistic, and gives a better 'highlight'."
5.Select the FILL TOOL (the paint bucket) and select Fill Style "Sunburst Gradient". It will take the colors you selected for the sphere.
6.Select the Options button and position the white area where you want the light source. NOTE: There is a bug in PSP that causes the numerical values to change on their own if you leave the options window and return to it. Set the "light source" using the thumbnail sample and ignore the numerical values.
7.Select OK.
8.Fill the circle, and whala! You have a sphere!
9.Save your file. Enjoy!
Draw a shadow in before you create the sphere.
Smudge it using the smudge tool.
Create your Sphere.
While the sphere is still selected, add a "cut out."
