1. New image, background black. 16.7 million colours
2. Choose font colour white and put the text in that you want.

3. Deselect the text.
4. Image > Special Filters > Dilate four times.

5. Image > Normal Filters > Blur More three times.

6. Image > Special Filters > Emboss

7. Put text over the embossed letters. DON'T DESELECT

8. Pick two colours (I picked dark red and orange)
9. Flood Fill, linear gradient inside the text.
10. Deselect the text.

11. Colours > Adjust > Brightness\Contrast - set brightness to -20, contrast 0

12. Image > Normal Filters > Soften More
