This damaged text is controllable, and easier to make. It gives nice effects when you only want one side of the text to be damaged. In comparison with the earlier damaged text, this one is a bit different, but as much fun !!
1. Create a 16,7M picture with a black background and white foreground
(400 x 400 pixels)
2. Type text you like, make it a nice large one, ie. 100 pixels
3. Release text (selection) and swap the colors black and white, so that
black becomes your foregroundcolor.
4. Now select brush, and take as texture sidewalk. Take your brush-size
as large as your textsize, in this case 100 pixels. Draw over your text
on the places you like your text to be damaged. When you want more
damage, go around the same place one or two times more.
5. Select posterize in the color menu, and set the bitvalue to 1.
6. Choose DESPECKLE. When you want to use another color, you could start
with that color (instead of a white foreground), but you could also
decrease the color to a depth of 1, and change the color there.
A simple colorize won't work on a white image.
Done!
Tip: If you're not satisfied with the texture, try woodgrain, fruitpeel or marble. And if your damage-work isn't satisfactory, just adjust your drawing before you posterize it (use preview).
