Open a new window, white background, 16M colours, about 500x300.
With forground colour of white, pick your font. It works nicely with
HomewardBound. Best with a "fat" font, not a skinny one like President,
but it will still work with them too. Antialias should be ON.
Type Big Fat 3D. Do not deselect.
Change forground to Green, background to Blue. (any colours can be used,
these look nice)
Image, Special Effects, Cutout. Fill interior UNCHECKED. Shadow
colour = Background. Opacity 180, blur 36, offsets of -3 and -3. OK
Do not deselect
Image, Special Effects, Cutout. Fill interior UNCHECKED. Shadow
colour = Foreground. Opacity 180, blur 36, offsets of 3 and 3. OK
Do not deselect
Image, Special fx, Drop Shadow. Colour Black, Opacity 150, Blur 10,
offset 3 and 3. OK
NOW deslect.
Change background to WHITE. Select ALL (SHIFT A), then remove
background (CTRL T, transparent = Background, tolerance = 20)...sure, you could use the
magic wand way too, but this is fast.
Now, the whole thing plus the shadow is selected.
Image, Special Filters, Emboss.
Do not deslect.
Redo the exact same Drop shadow. Do not deselect.
The edges along the top are a bit sharp. The final fix,
Drop Shadow again, this time with Opacity of just 50, and offsets -1 and
-1. Blur still 10.
Deselect, DONE. The colours you do the cutouts with affect the final
highlights, so play with them.
You can just do it with a straight colour, but when you emboss it, it
doesn't look quite as nice as the mix.
