Burned Edges
1. Using the lasso tool, draw a
line across the photo (make it
as jagged as you like - this
will be your "burned edge").
Continue the selection along
the edges of the photo and back to your start point. You'll end
up with a piece of the photo selected.
2. Reverse the selection by pressing shift+V on your keyboard.
3. Set your background color to white and hit the delete key.
4. Release the selection and select small corner opposite your
jagged edge. When it is selected, delete it. Don't reverse the selection this
time or you will delete your picture!
5. Holding shift key down, select both white areas.
6. Reverse the selection by pressing shift+V on your keyboard.
7. Apply the Filter Factory G/Ciba-chrome filter.
8. Set your foreground color to black and select the airbrush tool.
(size: 50 / shape: round / opacity: 30 / texture: mist.
Spray your burned effect on making it darkest around edges
and fading towards center.
9. With your selection still selected, go to Image/Special Effects/Cutout.
Fill Interior should be unchecked, shadow:black, opacity 200, blur: 36 and both vertical and horizontal set to -5.
10. Repeat the cutout, this time with the
vertical and horizontal set to 5 rather than -5.
11. Select Selections/Feather/5 on the menu bar.
12. Add a drop shadow, and you're done!
