Open a window 100 x 100
Select the spray can tool
Set the options to size 100, shape square. Adjust the Opacity to the amount of color you
want to apply to your background and choose your paper texture. Positioning the curser in the
center of the window, click the left mouse button once and you've got a perfect image to use
as the background for a web page.
If you want a background with more detail but don't want little squares repeating all over the place, the effect can be accomplished quite easily using the
create seamless pattern filter. Open or create your image. Using the selection tool, select a square area in the center of our image, staying away from the window edges. Select image/special effects/create seamless pattern. That's all it takes, the image is now ready for publishing on the web.
Remember though, not all images are suitable for a background. If an image is extremely 'busy', it makes it very difficult to read your text and will often send visitors to your site scurrying for friendlier sites. An image that might be too detailed for a background can frequently be adjusted using the brightness controls so that it is lightened enough to read the text overlay.
